The change you seek is within you.
The change you seek is within you.
For video sessions, I use Psychology Today, which secures BAA certification. BAA insures that the platform we're using only transmits information (it is only a conduit); no data is stored, and, thus, cannot be accessed by the platform or those who service it when we meet; confidentiality is the top priority.
After graduating with Phi Alpha Honors in Social Work from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in Saint Louis, I completed a one-year clinical fellowship at the Schiele Clinic of the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute. In May 2020, I completed the Institute's two-year Advanced Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program as a Schiele Scholar.
Before entering social work, I studied literature at Southern Utah University as an undergrad and literature and creative writing at the University of Missouri-St. Louis as a graduate. I worked as a copyeditor for academic publications and in university writing centers as an intern director and tutor.
My broad life experiences and diverse formal education combine to offer a safe place for you to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Life is challenging. Even when we are doing our best, we may still experience anxiety, depression, stress, moodiness, and difficulties in our relationships. Some of those feelings originate from experiences we remember clearly, and want to understand and organize; other feelings seem to come from nowhere and despite our best efforts, interfere with our feeling better and doing the things we want to do and being the person we want to be.
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy can help. You need a place that feels comfortable and safe, a person whom you trust to be empathetic, supportive, thoughtful, challenging without being judgmental, and curious about your life, someone who cares. You are the expert of your life's experiences and I'll trust you to share those with me as we build our relationship.
I will respect your inherent dignity and worth, and understand how the external world through which you move shapes and impacts your internal life's experiences and relationships with yourself and others.
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is an evidence-based talk therapy. You will be supported and encouraged to speak freely about anything that comes to your mind. There are no worksheets; there is no homework. We explore recognizing, acknowledging, understanding, expressing, and naming your pleasant, unpleasant, and contradictory feelings and emotions.
The psychoanalytic approach works to improve the quality of your interpersonal experiences and relationships—how you feel and experience yourself and others, and how others experience you.
You will learn to consider, connect, and resolve your current challenges and change your behavior in current relationships through a deep exploration and analysis of earlier experiences and emotions. Important will be recognizing how those past experiences and emotions are showing up today—however obvious or obscure—and how they affect your current decision-making, feelings, actions, and relationships.
Exploring painful parts of our lived experience can be difficult. Doing so takes time and developing trust. Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy prioritizes trust in the therapeutic relationship, that the change you seek is within you, and that repair comes in trusted community with each other.
Our sessions will be 45 minutes long and frequency of meeting will be determined by your needs and goals.
All therapy requires some investment of time. Psychotherapy is not limited to a number of sessions, completion of pre-determined steps or goals, or worksheets. Together we'll decide how often to meet, when to adjust that frequency if necessary, and when our time together has come to an end.
People who engage in psychoanalytic psychotherapy tend to experience ongoing improvements after therapy has ended. Although short-term therapy of one year or less may be sufficient for some, long-term therapy may be necessary for others to gain lasting benefits. The length of your therapeutic journey will be informed by your progress toward your improved sense of well-being.
Currently, my practice is with adults, individuals, and couples.
Diagnoses can be important in seeking and receiving treatment. While I value cooperating with your trusted healthcare givers (and only ever with your consent), diagnoses will not drive our time together.
You are more than a collected list of symptoms. If you have a diagnosis, most important in our time together is how you understand, feel, think about, and experience being you.
We often come into therapy understanding ourselves through diagnoses, so if it is helpful for you to determine seeking consultation and treatment with me, here is a list of areas in which I specialize:
At this time, I do not accept insurance. I will, however, provide you with the necessary information for you to submit for your out of network benefits.
Confidentiality is prioritized in all sessions and founds our therapeutic relationship. If we decide to begin working together, I will discuss with you the extent of therapeutic confidentiality, which is guided by state law and my professional code of ethics.
I have experience working with people in various circumstances and contexts, from students, first responders, skilled technicians, military, educators, as well service providers and high profile individuals (artists, writers, athletes, politicians, executives) whose work requires extra privacy and discretion in seeking therapy.
As of January 1, 2022, the No Surprises Act requires medical providers to give patients seeking care without insurance a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of the cost of treatment at the point of seeking care. Guided by the National Association Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics, I reserve adequate time to assess, diagnose, and plan for treatment. Therefore, I will provide you with a diagnosis and GFE at some point during your first three sessions. The GFE will estimate the cost of six months of therapy and will be reissued every six months.

To protect your privacy, please do not include any medical information in your message. I'll reach back as soon as possible. I look forward to talking with you.
